So, as every year, here we go for the 5k Turkey Trot! It is a round course that starts and finishes in Cambier Park in Downtown Naples. It is well organized and at the finishing line runners are served pumpkin pie, apple cider and coffee. And PLENTY of porta-potties! This year we were 4’000 runners – people come from all over the US and overseas.
The weather was perfect: cool and overcast, so no one suffering a heat stroke. The course is beautiful and completely flat. I noticed that for most of the time, I could only hear the footsteps and breathing of the other runners. No other sounds could be heard – no crowds, no cheering, no cars. Nothing. Somehow it felt very peaceful.
Everyone just hung out for a bit after the race, which was nice.
And now: back to the beach!
